New Commission - “Branches”

"Branches" - One Park Place, Houston, TX.
“Branches” was commissioned for One Park Place’s banquet room, and measures about 8′x8′ as hung (with 2″ between canvases). I didn’t have to look far for my subject matter- these trees were found a few blocks from my home.
The image of the branches has been overlaid with leaves and color. The end effect is both naturalistic and abstract. And when hung this way, with a small space between panels, the effect is that of looking out through a window.
The canvases were printed in my studio on an Epson 9600 printer, and stretched on lightweight cedar stretchers.
This multipaneled approach to doing larger commissions seems to work well both practically (production, transportation, storage) and visually. In all I’ve done four fairly large scale tree projects, and I’ll be posting the others here in the future.

Welcome To My Blog!
Hello. I’ve just made my website a blog, with the intention of adding new work as often as possible.
My first post is a video slideshow I just made highlighting my abstract work. Please leave comments if you’d like.
The soundtrack is from the Grateful Dead (Blues For Allah). Also check out my Music Videos Page for another video, this one featuring the music of my friend, Bart Boyce.
